Hypnosis is a state or condition in which you, as the client, become highly responsive to suggestions.
It can also be viewed as a ‘state of heightened suggestibility’,
but you are always in control, and cannot be forced to do anything against your
own will.
Will I pass out?
No. You are not unconscious while in the state of
hypnosis. Some old TV shows or movies make it appear the hypnotist has
"control" over your actions, but that is never the case. At all times
you can bring yourself out of the state of hypnosis if you so choose. You may
discover you are actually more focused and aware in the state of hypnosis than
you feel normally as you work on whatever issue you have chosen.
No. The hypnotist is not some magical being who can force you to
surrender your will or make you do silly things. You are always in control and
are merely allowing the hypnotist to guide you so you can achieve your goals.
No. Again, you cannot be forced to say or do anything against
your will. Any information you do not wish to share, will remain your
secret. You can even choose to lie while in the state of hypnosis! You are
always in control.
No. It is not possible to get ‘stuck’ in the state of hypnosis.
Since you actually choose to enter the state of hypnosis, you can easily
and readily also choose to leave the state of hypnosis (‘snap out of
it’) whenever you wish.
No. Actually, those most successful engaging hypnotic work tend
to be the more intelligent of the population; and being imaginative gives you
an additional advantage as well.
